On June 12, 2008, The Florida College Democrats in association with the College Democrats of Florida Atlantic University presented the first-ever South Florida Democratic Party Summit. The event was a huge success featuring former Attorney General Janet Reno, ten members of the Florida House of Representatives, two State Senators, a message from US Senator Bill Nelson, and a call-to-action by Florida College Democrats President John J. Martino. The event attracted hundreds students and local community members.
